Website Assmang Black Rock Mine Operations (BRMO)

Assmang Black Rock Mine Operations (BRMO) is a major underground manganese mining complex located in the Kalahari Manganese Field in the Northern Cape, South Africa, approximately 80 km northwest of Kuruman.

Engineering Learnerships in the mining sector are initiated by the Mining Qualifications Authority (MQA).

  • Training is based on prescribed Unit Standards
  • Learners accumulate credits on the MQA database
  • Upon completion, learners receive an MQA certificate
  • A formal Trade Test is required at the end of the programme

This structured programme allows candidates to gain both theoretical knowledge and practical on-site mining experience.

Minimum Requirements – Plumber

Applicants must have:

  • N2 with the following subjects:
    • Mathematics (not Mathematics Literacy)
    • Engineering / Building Science
    • Building Drawing
    • Plumbing Theory

Additional essential requirements:

  • Grade 12 with Mathematics and Science
  • N2/N3 Engineering Studies
  • English literacy
  • Good communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Ability to pass the Technical Test Battery Assessment
  • Ability to obtain a Dover “B” Symbol

Advantageous:

  • Valid Driver’s Licence Code B/EB
