Available Apprenticeship Trades
The Sandvik Apprenticeship Programme is available in the following trades:
- Boilermaker
- Fitter
- Toolmaker
- Millwright
These apprenticeships provide structured training that combines practical workplace experience with formal technical learning.
Purpose of the Apprenticeship Programme
The purpose of the apprenticeship is to develop skilled artisans through structured training. Apprentices invest their time and effort into developing technical skills, while the employer provides training and workplace exposure.
The programme also involves collaboration with a training institution, ensuring that apprentices receive both theoretical and practical instruction required to complete their training successfully.
Key Responsibilities
During the apprenticeship programme, participants will be expected to:
- Attend work and training sessions as directed
- Follow all workplace policies and employment agreements
- Behave in a professional and respectful manner
- Follow lawful instructions and workplace safety procedures
- Work towards achieving the competencies outlined in the training plan
- Participate in required training and assessments
- Maintain training records and provide them when required
Minimum Requirements
To qualify for the Sandvik Apprenticeship Programme, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Grade 12 (Matric) with Mathematics and Science
OR - N3 Engineering Certificate or equivalent qualification
Additional requirements:
- Must attach Matric statement of results
- Must be a South African citizen
- Strong academic performance will be advantageous
