Programme Overview

The Earthmoving Mechanic Apprenticeship falls under the Equipment Business Unit within Operations and Technical. The programme combines practical workshop exposure with structured theoretical training.

Successful apprentices will gain hands-on experience in the maintenance and repair of heavy earthmoving and construction equipment.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet the following academic requirements:

  • Grade 12 Certificate with Mathematics and Science (Minimum 50% pass required)
  • N2 Certificate from a TVET / FET College with:
    • Mathematics
    • Diesel Trade Theory
    • Engineering Drawings
    • Engineering Science

Added Advantage:

  • Experience working in a vehicle maintenance environment

Applicants must also demonstrate:

  • Willingness to learn
  • Commitment to completing both theory and practical components within the specified duration

Duties and Responsibilities

As an apprentice, you will:

  • Assist qualified Artisans with repairs and services
  • Support workshop activities
  • Assist with equipment breakdowns in the field
  • Contribute to a strong safety culture
  • Carry out reasonable instructions from Team Leaders
  • Travel to various sites across South Africa when required

This role provides exposure to both workshop-based and field service environments.
