Cape Winelands District Municipality is offering 5 Financial Internship posts on a two-year contract appointment. The Municipal Finance Management Internship Programme is a structured training and work experience programme aimed at providing high-quality practical exposure in all aspects of municipal finance management.

This internship is ideal for graduates who want to build careers in finance, accounting, auditing, economics, and risk management within local government.

Internship Responsibilities

Successful candidates will be expected to:

• Assist with preparing municipal budgets and financial reports
• Support accounting functions, including reconciliations, journal processing, and maintaining accurate financial records
• Participate in asset management activities, including verification and updating of the asset register
• Assist with audit preparation, internal control processes, and resolving audit findings
• Engage in structured training and professional development to build municipal financial competencies

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have:

• A three-year Bachelor’s Degree or National Diploma
• Majors in one or more of the following fields:
  • Accounting
  • Economics
  • Finance
  • Risk Management
  • Auditing

Academic records with examination results must accompany the application.

Salary

The all-inclusive annual salary is R120,000.00.
